No Budget Cup: Regulation


The No Budget CUP is a totally independent championship.

Each team consists of 2 or 3 riders who compete on one and the same motorcycle. The No Budget CUP is open for all bikes with frames and engines built between 2000 and 2007. The No Budget CUP has 2 classes: ‘Class -600’ (all four cylinders until 636cc, all three cylinders until 675cc and all two cylinders with 2 valves/cylinder until 1.200cc and two cylinders with 4 valves/cylinder until 749cc) and the ‘Class Megabikes’ (plus 600 (all two cylinders with 4 valves/cylinder with more then 749cc, three cylinders until 960cc, four cylinders with more than 636cc).

Riders who have taken part in the last 10 years (from 2007) in international solo classes, or who have obtained an international racing licence for the Belgian Championschip, the Open Nederlands Kampioenschap or the Benecup, except in classic races, can’t participate.




All No Budget CUP teams are obliged to ride with Bridgestone tyres that are purchased at the official NBC tyre service. The Bridgestone R10 and wet weather tyres are the only type of tyres which are allowed. The number of tyres is not limited per meeting and tyre warmers can be used, but they are not mandatory.

For all participants Bridgestone offers tyres at substantial discounts. Both wet weather tyres fitted to an extra set of spare wheels are still allowed in 2017.

ATTENTION: There is an official tyre service at the races.



Basically, anybody can compete in the No Budget CUP. Riders who have taken part in the last 10 years (from 2007) in international solo classes, or who have obtained an international racing licence for the Belgian Championschip, the Open Nederlands Kampioenschap or the Benecup, except in classic races, can’t participate.

An official VMBB No Budget CUP license is necessary. This guarantees an additional insurance and assistance in case of physical injury, also for all trackdays in Europe. This license costs 210 euros and 40 euros membership fee.

All riders are obligated to sign a liability waiver and a membership demand form.

Leather gloves, leather boots, a one piece leather suit, a full face CE approved helmet and back protector are mandatory.




Each pit crew can consist of a maximum of 4 people, riders not included. These persons must be able to identify themselves to the organisation throughout the whole day. Teams who have too many people in the pit will be fined with a stop & go. When multiple violations occur, the team will be disqualified. Too many people in the pit lane endangers both the riders and the actual pit crew!
Everybody responsible for the refuelling procedure, including the person with the fire extinguisher, is obliged to wear a helmet, gloves and an overall. Children under 16 years old and animals are strictly forbidden in the pit lane. Smoking is also strictly forbidden in the pit lane.

Each pit crew has to have a fire extinguisher of at least 9kg!

Cancellations must be completed at least 1 month prior to the race date. If the team can find a replacement, the organisation will return their payment minus an administration cost of 50 euros per cancelled race. NOT SHOWING UP ON RACE DAY WILL NEVER RESULT IN A REFUND!



You can only participate with one bike. A second bike can only be used for spare parts. Quick fillers can be used, with only one nozzle (endurance fuel tanks with double filler caps are not allowed, neither are pressurised fillers). Refuelling procedures where fuel comes into contact with the open air (jerry can and funnel) are not allowed. Refuelling systems have to be mobile and can have a maximum capacity of 24 litres of fuel. Every kind of pneumatically or electrically assisted tools is forbidden.

Bikes which compete in the No Budget CUP have to be equipped with the following safety features:

  • Securing of front and rear brake callipers
  • Securing of oil filter, oil filler cap and oil sump screw
  • The front brake lines have to be split at the lower triple clamp or at the master cylinder. Brake lines that connect both callipers, running over the front mudguard are not allowed!

ALL bikes have to have the following features:

  • Centre stand and side stand have to be removed.
  • Lights, mirrors and indicators have to be removed.
  • A back protector is mandatory for all riders.
  • Using coolant instead of water is strictly forbidden! This can be checked during every scrutineering.
  • All bikes must have a fairing that is closed under the engine or have an oil tray. The oil tray’s minimum capacity must be the quantity of oil that the engine contains. There must be two holes in the belly pan for wet races, which can be closed by rubber plugs.
  • All bikes must be able to start independently (electric)!
  • All bikes have to be equipped with a chain protector. This is a plate that has to be mounted on the lower side of the swing arm in front of the rear sprocket to avoid anything being jammed between chain and sprocket.
  • All bikes have to be equipped with three number boards: one in the front and two at the rear (left and right). Grid numbers will be provided by the organisation, together with the mandatory sponsor stickers. The numbers will be at least 16 cm tall. It is mandatory to use a white background colour. There will be severe checks on the presence of the official sponsor stickers and numbers. It is in your personal interest that the grid numbers are clear and visible.
    The sticker sets will be available at the scrutineering.
  • CAUTION: As from now the fuel and water overflow need to flow into a closed cannister, preferably for water and oil.

PERSONAL SPONSORSHIP DEALS are obviously allowed. Personal sponsors however can not interfere with the official CUP sponsors. (e.g. Tyre dealer ‘Black hoops Johnny’ is allowed, any tyre brand other than Bridgestone is not). For a complete list of the official sponsors, see

ATTENTION: Before the first qualifying session all the bikes will be subjected to a visual and technical check up. As long as your bike is not in accordance with the above stated rules and regulations, you will be denied access to the track. In this case NO entrance fees will be refunded.

The sound level for the No Budget CUP is set at 103 dB according to the FIM regulations.
It is the responsibility of the rider to ensure that a machine used in the No Budget CUP is mechanically and structurally in a safe condition.



Pit stops in the No Budget CUP have to be performed as followed: rider enters the pits, engine must be cut, rider gets of the bike, you can then work on it, after that the bike is refuelled in accordance with the regulations, and then you can rejoin the race. Pit stops will only be accepted when this procedure is followed.

MAXIMUM SPEED IN PIT LANE IS LIMITED TO 60 KPH. This will be monitored by means of a speed gun.

The fuel procedure will be strictly monitored in 2017. Refuelling will only be done when wearing an overall, gloves and a full face helmet. The people responsible for refuelling and for the fire extinguisher (the extinguisher must be at least 9 kg) must have their visors closed throughout the whole procedure. Wearing another form of eye protection (safety goggles) is also allowed. In order not to disadvantage teams with three riders, every team has to conduct at least two pit stops per race.

ATTENTION: You have to use a towel on the tank during refuelling, with a central hole that leaves room for the filler cap.

Pit lane exit will be closed as soon as the chequered flag is waved.

After every red flag, a restart is issued folowing two warm-up laps. Every team can do a pitstop after the first warm-up lap. They can rejoin the track at the back of the pack after the second warm-up lap.

If a team is in the pitlane during a red flag, they can continue their pitstop and rejoin the waiting pack in the pitlane untill the restart.




Every team gets points in its class but also in the overall standings.

Points overall standings:
25, 22, 19, 16, 13, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 point.

Points per class:
25, 22, 19, 16, 13, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 point for all the teams that finish the race.

It is not necessary for a team to finish the race in order to get into the final points table. For example if a team is 3 laps ahead of its runner up and crashes in the last lap of the race. We live by the olympic creed: the most important thing is participating, not to win. Plus we prevented mangled bikes being pushed onto the track in the final stages of the race, just to finish at dangerously low speeds to score points for the championship. So it’s the team that runs the longest distance during the given time of the race that wins.



All fines in each of the four classes are stop & go penalties.

  • Ignoring the yellow or red flag: 2 minutes
  • Ignoring the yellow or red flag for a second time: Immediate disqualification (stop & don’t go anymore…)
  • Passing during the warm up laps before passing start/finish under a green flag: 1 minute
  • Speeding in pit lane: 30 seconds at the end of pit lane
  • Violation of pit stop procedure: 1 minute
  • Riding through pit lane in opposite direction: 1 minute

Complaints have to be filed to race control before the podium ceremony takes place.



20 minutes after the end of every round there will be a podium for the first three teams. Every team that ends up on the rostrum will receive three trophies, one per rider.



The organisers of the No Budget CUP reserve the right to refuse refunds relating to entry and membership fees.
